Complementing the release of the University’s eagerly awaited Digital Education Strategy, Academic IT Services is pleased to publish a revised and extended portfolio of services to staff and students in the Collegiate University. The services fall into the following broad categories:
- Teaching and learning, comprising Education Support Systems, Learning Technologies, Educational Outreach, Courses and Training, Video and Media
- Research support, including Research Systems
Over the next four articles we introduce the new portfolio, category by category. We start this week with Video and Media.
Lecture Capture (Replay)
This new service, which has been piloted since early 2014, will become available on 1st August. The term ‘lecture capture’ refers to the automated (as opposed to manual) recording of lectures and presentations, and will be provided by Academic IT Services on an opt-in basis. The recordings will be made available to students through the WebLearn VLE for review and revision. More information is available on the Replay help pages. For guidance on technical matters, you can also send an email to email@example.com.
One of our most successful services in recent years, media publishing covers the production of audio and video podcasts for release through on Oxford Podcasts and Oxford on iTunesU. For advice on any aspect of recording, editing or publishing your podcasts, visit the Podcasting help pages or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Academic IT Services team is highly skilled in the production of broadcast-quality video for conferences, lectures and other University events. Videos can be live-streamed and/or recorded for upload to the Web. For further information, send an email to email@example.com.
IT/AV Equipment for Learning Spaces
Staff can provide consultation and advice on the selection, installation and support of IT and AV equipment in the University’s learning spaces – especially valuable for departments that are considering implementing lecture capture. For further information, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Video Conferencing (Room-based)
Fully equipped, bookable rooms are available in IT Services for holding video conferences. For further information, send an email to email@example.com.
