Progress: Mar-Apr 2015

Notes from the Project Manager:

  • Prepared for initial joinin session on Twitter
  • Pursued contact with prospective University units who supported the joinin bid to the University of Oxford IT Innovation Seed Fund [Trial]
    • other organisations (like the Wellcome Trust) have been attracted by the advertising for the Dept of Oncology session
    • planning for presentation of joinin at a museum staff meeting (April)
    • and running a demonstration session as a workshop during IT Services Staff Day (June)
  • Specified and purchased equipment for joinin, in particular a projector to enable the display of mobile device screen
  • Pursued confirmation from central Finances of joinin Project finances
  • Blogged here about joinin sessions and developments

Immediately to-do:

  • Project finances from University finances
  • Work closely with the Wellcome Trust for their joinin Twitter session
  • Newsletter article for the IT Services news for users
  • Agree Trinity Term joinin at one University unit for the whole series
    • And at others who wish to trial as well

Risks, issues and changes:

  • The delay in central Finances confirming joinin project finances is an issue for Academic IT sections who are essentially providing an artificial support to this Trial of the Seed Fund. In the real world no student or staff member (without tenure) could command their parent organisation to pay salaries and equipment costs while waiting for finances to be confirmed. This will be raised with the managers of the University of Oxford IT Innovation Seed Fund [Trial]
  • Engaging with the correct parties within larger organisations like museums and libraries is proving a challenge as is managing their expectations and explaining the principles behind joinin
  • The project manager (Alun Edwards) will be seconded from Academic IT from July, therefore Liz Masterman will take over responsibility for project management July-Oct in addition to evaluation of joinin
