Podcasting at Oxford University

Since the launch in 2008, more than 19 million downloads have been made from our Oxford on iTunesU site and we were delighted to recently feature in a world-wide Apple iPad TV advert.

The Oxford on iTunesU site has the largest amount of free lectures from any UK University. In August 2012 it would take over 84 days to listen to every item available from Oxford. Roughly half are released with a Creative Commons licence so that they can be reused in schools and Universities worldwide.

The podcasting service also makes our podcasts available on our open media site –  Podcasts.ox.ac.uk

What type of material is there?

Content is being added regularly to the site. All content is free for you to download and watch or listen to. Recent highlights include:

Interested in ebooks? Shakespeare’s entire First Folio, including original spelling, is being made available to download for free, as Oxford University becomes one of the world’s first universities to add ePubs to iTunes U:

If you have iTunes on your computer already and would like to download to your PC or Mac click here to visit Oxford’s site.  We also make all our podcasts available on our open web site,  Podcasts.ox.ac.uk
