About 30 undergraduates from all around the University might have been sleeples for 24 hours earlier in the week.
The two Apple campus student reps organised an Insomnia film competiton, and the prize giving was here at OUCS last night. Some fantastic short films, all created within 24 hours, by undergraduates who were enthusiastic, but not video experts.
The students were given a five second shot of a post box in Oxford’s covered market and their remit was to produce a short film with that as the starting scene – all within 24 hours. They had full use of our Apple teaching room, but other than that the entire event was run by and for the students themselves.
The resulting films ran the gamut from musical, to comedy, to mystery, to – uhh – bizarre! It was a great event, well organised and run. It was a pleasure to work with a group of students we might otherwise not have come into contact with – most of our teaching here is for staff, academics and post-graduates. Hopefully they will come back to us for some of our courses.
Well done every one involved!
