- submitted detailed interim progress report for the project to the JISC programme manager which we’ll publish on our project website when we get the nod
- short-listed and scheduled interviews to recruit a project officer
Training workshops
We have been planning for 2 free workshops:
- Weds 5th May 2010, Oxford – for Oxford projects primarily. Registration open for 1 more week and further details available
- Weds 26th May 2010, Oxford, open to all – registration due to open shortly
- We’ve been in touch with a number of Oxford-based projects, the Oxford University Museums service and with potential speakers like the JISC Strategic Content Alliance
Dissemination
- posted further content on our project website which went Live on 1 March
- prepared and filmed short ‘talking-heads’ videos for use at the JISC Conference
- posted to this project blog
- engaged (via Twitter) with national cultural heritage managers, other managers from the JISC e-Content and digitisation programme and experts in digitisation and user-generated content
- answered enquiries, in particular from managers setting up some very different bids for funding from the JISC Developing Community Content call
- used Delicious to link to interesting material online (you can see the latest links and Twitter conversations in the side margin of this blog)
- met with some of the Europeana marketing and technical team
Community Contributed Collection software (CoCoCo)
- development continues of the open-source CoCoCo software which facilitates the online collection of digital objects
Exemplar community collection
Worked with the exemplar project – Woruldhord:
- mainly on their new website
- liaised between the project and the CoCoCo developer about Old English characters like thorns, eths, asc, diacritics, etc.
In addition to planned work, we continue to pursue the collaborative bid writing work with a new consortium for user-generated content in the Europeana online service.
Next month we will…
- publicise website and blog
- continue development of the CoCoCo software
- meet a Phd candidate from UCL to discuss community archive intitiatives etc.
- interview for the post of project officer
- write 2 adverts for Oxford internal publications, OUCS news and Blueprint
- prepare and deliver RunCoCo contributions to the Beyond Borders conference and the JISC Conference
- meet Chris Wild, from The Retroscope, one day our calendars must coincide!
- continue working with the exemplar project (with Dr Stuart Lee)
- continue planning for RunCoCo training workshops
- collaborate in the writing of a bid to Europeana
- start to write training documentation for dissemination at the free training workshops to be held in Oxford and around the UK.
