I was deeply saddened to learn that Alexis O’Connor died suddenly on Monday 19th January. He had worked at the University for many years, since 2004, long ago enough to have what became known as a ‘vanity’ single-sign-on login name. Over the years Alexis worked as an application developer for the Weblearn team, the Nexus Team, and the Communication and Collaboration Services Team. I first met Alexis in January 2010 when I joined the Nexus Team in what was still, at that time, Oxford University Computing Services. We have worked together all the way through that period. I greatly valued his skills, his experience, and his kindly explanations of esoteric technical issues. We didn’t always agree but he was usually right on those issues. He will be greatly missed.
