Throughout August any managed workstation without Office 2013 installed will get daily prompts to install it. Clicking OK won’t initiate the installation as at this stage this is just a reminder. As per our previous post the updates to this went live on Monday morning. So far all the feedback we have received has been positive, but if you are experiencing any difficulties with printer mapping in CONNECT please contact the Service Desk so we can help.

Over the next month we’re migrating all data stored on the ADMN file server cluster as well as all CONNECT Home drives and Profiles to new underlying infrastructure. This includes the majority (but not all) of UAS: if you have a G:\ drive mapped (which if you do should be your departmental drive) then this definitely affects you. The other file servers, including Estates, Development Office and the Bodleian Libraries, will be moved later on and separate messages will be sent out about them.
An email will be going out to all staff later this week advising them of this work and will include the schedule included below. Reminder emails will be sent each week (1 per week) during August in which we’ll also be able to update with any issues or changes.
On 1st August we’ll be deploying an updated version of the scripts that map printers when you logon to a workstation in CONNECT. This will remove the printers group policy that can take a significant amount to time to apply when users log in. The updated scripts have been tested by us for several months and users will continue to get the same printers mapped when we make the change. It will also help resolve some of the issues we’ve had with laptops not remembering printers.
Office 2013 was made available to install on all CONNECT workstations from 1st July. It is available on the Oxford Application Installer menu and from 1st August you will start to see messages asking you to upgrade on any machine which is still running Office 2010. These messages will occur daily through August with the option to delay the upgrade, however from 1st September this option to delay the upgrade will be removed.
KeePass has now been made available to install via the Oxford Applications Installer menu on all CONNECT machines. It will also shortly be available on the CONNECT Remote Desktop service (pre-installed, with an icon on the desktop).

Following on from the problems affecting UAS network drives that occurred on 9th March work has been carried out to update the photocopiers which were configured to scan to the affected departmental drives.
From around 8pm on Sunday evening we experienced an issue which affected the following shared network drives G:\ and O:\ for
MIS
OpenDoor
Parks
Pensions
Planning (PRAS)
Payments
MANACC (Management Accounts)
MPSDIV (MPLS)
Occupational Health
Connection to the affected disc drive was restored before 9am this morning and we are investigating the cause to prevent this happening again.
We have now completed the bulk of the RAM upgrades having completed around 1045 of the planned 1080 machines.
We had initially targeted locations with large number of machines to upgrade and we are now scheduling the remaining locations.
We hope to complete the remainder of the machines in the next few weeks and are contacting individuals to arrange access to computers.
